Our Spirit Stick for Team Destiny is Ready ! Newberry is ready. This is the Relay for Life weekend coming up. The entire community gathers for all night fun and antics at the Newberry High School Track in Newberry. Monies raised go to fight cancer through the American Cancer Society.

A spring Saturday. Beautiful ! Newberry was ablazing with activity. The annual plant sale this year was held at the Methodist Church, while the kids made earthy Spring/Easter baskets at Dudley Farm. Relay for Life was in Full swing, thanks to Andy Karalas had their second yard sale on the Karalas property. Since the city elections are Tuesday, this spring Saturday with perfect weather was the best opportunity for the candidates to spread all American spring cheer. Robert Fillyaw and Jordan Marlowe joined the activity with a cook out, giving away hot dogs and lemonade to all who stopped by.
[cincopa AIHAkg6rJnmg]We got see the unveiling of the Heisman trophy winners in sister city Gainesville, FL. during the Orange and Blue game, while they also have activities at the Santa Fe Teaching zoo, and the Art show going on today and tomorrow. WOW….. ! So proud to be a Newberrian, and so glad to live in Alachua County ! Take some time to enjoy the beauty, the nature, the arts, and the sports that the area has to offer.

Great event tonight at City Hall was also broadcast on channel 97, Cox Cable. New business, and business growth were hot topics as well as discussion regarding the Newberry City electric bills.
City Hall was 3/4 full with concerned citizens who listened to the questions and answers in the forum that was put on by the Newberry Jonesville Chamber of Commerce. The forum was moderated by Former Representative Debbie Boyd.
The election will take place next Tuesday, 7 AM – 7 PM and is open to all voting citizens of the City of Newberry.
