Spring in Newberry FL

A spring Sat­ur­day. Beau­ti­ful ! New­berry was ablaz­ing with activ­ity. The annual plant sale this year was held at the Methodist Church, while the kids made earthy Spring/Easter bas­kets at Dud­ley Farm. Relay for Life was in Full swing, thanks to Andy Kar­alas had their sec­ond yard sale on the Kar­alas prop­erty. Since the city elec­tions are Tues­day, this spring Sat­ur­day with per­fect weather was the best oppor­tu­nity for the can­di­dates to spread all Amer­i­can spring cheer. Robert Fillyaw and Jor­dan Mar­lowe joined the activ­ity with a cook out, giv­ing away hot dogs and lemon­ade to all who stopped by.

We got see the unveil­ing of the Heis­man tro­phy win­ners in sis­ter city Gainesville, FL. dur­ing the Orange and Blue game, while they also have activ­i­ties at the Santa Fe Teach­ing zoo, and the Art show going on today and tomor­row. WOW.…. ! So proud to be a New­ber­rian, and so glad to live in Alachua County ! Take some time to enjoy the beauty, the nature, the arts, and the sports that the area has to offer.

Newberry Political Forum

Great event tonight at City Hall was also broad­cast on chan­nel 97, Cox Cable. New busi­ness, and busi­ness growth were hot top­ics as well as dis­cus­sion regard­ing the New­berry City elec­tric bills.

City Hall was 3/4 full with con­cerned cit­i­zens who lis­tened to the ques­tions and answers in the forum that was put on by the New­berry Jonesville Cham­ber of Com­merce. The forum was mod­er­ated by For­mer Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Deb­bie Boyd.

The elec­tion will take place next Tues­day, 7 AM — 7 PM and is open to all vot­ing cit­i­zens of the City of Newberry.

Bike Florida event goes through Newberry

Bicy­clist struck and killed just West of Newberry

 

3/31/11 — Bike Florida folks are set­tling into Micanopy today after yesterday’s events and inclement weather.  They will ride the last miles of the trip into Gainesville tomor­row.  There has never been a loss of life on any of their pre­vi­ous events, and it is a sad an unfor­tu­nate event that tran­spired yes­ter­day just out­side Newberry.
