Keep your records in a wateproof, portable container:
Will, insurance policies, contracts, deeds, stocks, bonds, passports, social
security cards, immunization records, bank account numbers, credit card numbers,
inventory of valuable household goods, important telephone numbers, family
records- birth, marriage and death certificates.

If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to the storm to get struck by lightning
If you are outside with others, stay at least 15 feet apart from them so the lightning won't travel between you if you are hit
Make yourself the smallest possible target, squat with your hands on your knees and your head tucked
